My addiction to carving/whittling started in 1998. I whittle most of my characters from white pine and prefer using knives over hand tools

This is great Kevin, I find your videos so helpful! Thanks for taking the time to make them
I don't know whether to love this or hate it. I'm out here looking for a helvie and this guy just breaks off an old kitchen knife. Amazing talent.
Hi Kevin! It’s everything alright? Didn’t see a video from long time. Just checking out. Have a nice day!

I love relaxing and watching your carvings, there amazing. I really enjoy watching you carve the minatures. Iv taken up whittling a little while ago. Bought a nice knife set, iv leared alot from watching you. You made me want to get good at it. I would buy one from you, id love to own one of your carvings. Thanks for the awesome videos Kevin !!
Hi! What kind of knife do you use in this video? BeaverCraft?
Amazing... tks
Thanks
Mr. Kevin I pray that you are doing well and in good health. We miss you on UA-cam.
Thanks Brendan. I'm fine. It's with my hands I had trouble since before Christmas. They are slowly coming around. Some nerve damage and over use. I had to take a new job and don't have much time to spare. I hope to get back to doing some videos real soon
Just love the sound of knife slicing through timber , im a lefty as well for years i did oil painting then two years agoafter bad hip op i needed some thing else i got bored with painting and started whittling little men out of 1x1 did a few more ambious peices now im doing a cartoon like figure of a cowboy gun slinger big hat big mastache about to draw both pistolsi want one eve closed the other wide open left leg slightly in front of the other im asking have you done anythig like that im sort of stuggling, love all you videos iv seen to date ,cheers from Australia, ps i might have left it to late as im 85 ln sept
Thank you. I may have done something similar over the years. I have done probably 10,000 carvings or more over the years. Take a look at my Facebook page Kevin Coates Wood Carving. You may see something there
Продолжайте это делать. Мы учимся по этим видеоурокам! Спасибо большое! Привет из России ❤❤🇷🇺
Thank you
Hi Kevin can we possibly see something else from you it's been 6months since you posted any thing. Appreciated
Mark, I had a lot of trouble with my hands since Christmas. I done very little carving since then. I took a new job this spring and haven't had much time to carve. Plan on getting back at the videos soon though. Keep an eye out. Thanks
Next chalenge carve a match .
You never know lol
I really enjoy watching you carve. The way you position the camera and your hands makes your carving extremely to follow. What wood are you using?
Thank you. I carve white pine
Observeing you i can see you have a few things foresight talent very sharp knives creative hands and a vivid imagination thank you .
Thank you 👍
i may have asked before or just thought it ,have you done your head would like to see .
I have never done one of myself. It's not worth the effort lol
Ifound taking big chunks at a time chalenging i pussy foot around to much, next session ill try your way love your videos only recently started doing human faces ,thank you
Taking big chunks comes in time along with a little confidence. The more you carve the more comfortable you will get taking bigger bites into the wood
Great talent and imagination a good video thank you .
Thank you
WHY is the face allways last to be done and i think the easyest to stuff up, is that a piece of pine wood ?
Good question. There's no particular reason why I do it last. It's just how I did it from the start. Yes it's pine I use
Carving has to be my favorite sound.
merci merci .....a la camera j ai l impression que l image la figurine est grande .... merci d indiquer les section du bois c est très bien😃😉
merci d'avoir répondu! je n en revient pas, votre coûteau coupe très bien , c'est même beau à regarder merci

Feels like there's a step or two missing.
Darn good idea for a backstop, might pirate that fo my spoons👍🍀
Hey what degree do you sharpen your knife to,if you dont mind me asking
I can't say to be honest on the degree. Maybe somewhere near the thickness of a dime or a nickel between the knife and stone.
Thanks so much
Fish knife!
My trusted old fish knife
What brand do you use?
OCC knives alot of the time. Pine wood
Excellent video Kevin! Thank you. (Carl Slaney from Marystown) :-)
Hey Carl. I haven't been keeping up on my messages lately. Thanks
RIP TO JASE BRASCO-a rumo legend. Jase was great in any language, but he was on to something with his tracks in spanish, life unfortunately was cut short for this visionary lyricist. WITH TEARS IN MY EYES I SAY RIP.
Looked like a whole different type of object to start with!!

Just ran across your video. 5 years later. Like your style.. I am left handed…. You’re the first left handed carver I have come across.. it turned on the light. BTW, what type wood are you using. Thanks. Joe…
Thanks Joe. It's white pine
Great🔥🔥👏👏
Dang love the little guy. That wood doesnt look as nice as the rest of the carvers on UA-cam. Is it pine ? Tough carving thanks as always enjoy your videos
For the most part the pine is decent but I get some not so good pieces occasionally. Thank you
Bellissimo Complimenti
Thank you
Simply brilliant. Simple tools, very complex results!
Thank you
Great ❤
Thank you
Es la que usas siempre? Esta suave para trabajarla? Me la recomiendas? O cual es tu sugerencia?
Disculpa, ¿que tipo de madera estás usando?
It's white pine I use. Most of it is soft. The occasional piece maybe not so good to carve
Awesome
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍!!!!!!!
Я всё время боялся, что рука с ножом соскользнёт и мы недосчитаемся пальца, а то и руки. А руки то золотые, а мастер то во👍
Thank you
